I was born in the UK but after 22 years of not seeing the sun I migrated to Australia. I slowly morphed into a sea gypsy; leaving my job in the film, television and advertising industry in Sydney to visit places as slowly as possible by boat.
I also became a journalist along the way.
For a while, my home was a fibreglass yacht, purchased in Thailand and shared with my husband Julian, two Burmese cats and eventually our son Joshua, whose arrival in 2010 put a temporary halt to our watery wanderings.
I am now an accomplished photo-journalist and editor with a wide portfolio in print and online media.
Most recently I was editor of News Corp's Whitsunday Coast Guardian and Whitsunday Times.
